About The Position

Olathe Public Schools is seeking a Head Girls Swimming Coach for a one-year assignment. This position involves modeling district guiding principles, working with the head coach to conduct pre-season parent meetings, teaching and coaching in a positive and constructive manner, and maintaining a professional attitude. The coach will provide an environment that promotes good sportsmanship and comply with all KSHSAA and USD #233 rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Model district guiding principles of Children First, Respect for All, Teamwork, Excellence in Quality, and Commitment to Individual Needs.
  • Adherence to district guidelines for fundraising, trips, money management, honoring of contracts, credit card use and transportation.
  • Provide information to all participants and the school administration.
  • Maintain a professional attitude in all situations.
  • Provide an environment that promotes good sportsmanship.
  • Comply with and communicate to participants/parents all USD #233 Board policies.
  • Ensure all team members understand the dangers associated with hazing and ensure that no initiation or hazing activities take place.
  • Monitor the safety of equipment, playing surfaces, and performance environments.
  • Maintain detailed practice plans.
  • Never leave athletes unsupervised.
  • Provide detailed and repeated instruction with regards to the performance of high-risk activities.
  • Adhere to the district’s lightning and hot weather guidelines.
  • Evaluate injuries and lack of physical conditioning.
  • Comply with all KSHSAA and USD #233 rules and regulations, including participant eligibility, required physical examinations, district substance abuse policy, and other KSHSAA Handbook guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill applicable roles and responsibilities as directed by the school’s administration and head coach.
  • Adhere to district guidelines for fundraising, trips, money management, honoring of contracts, credit card use and transportation.
  • Work with the head coach to conduct a pre-season meeting with parents to communicate important information.
  • Provide information on expectations/criteria for participation, sportsmanship guidelines, practice and game schedules, district guidelines for transportation, insurance, handling of injuries including concussions, parent-coach communication, substance abuse guidelines, and lettering guidelines.
  • Teach and coach in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Maintain a professional attitude in all situations and adhere to the district’s guiding principles for coaches.
  • Provide an environment that promotes good sportsmanship.
  • Comply with and communicate to participants/parents all USD #233 Board policies, including the Student Code of Conduct.
