Requirements

  • Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Successful experience playing/coaching high school or college flag football or tackle football.
  • Holds a currently valid First Aid card with CPR (or ability to obtain certification within 1 month).
  • Holds a currently valid MHSA (Montana Association of Athletics) Coaching Certifications and Endorsements.
  • Has completed all NFHS Courses.
  • Must have a flexible schedule.
  • Montana Driver’s license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date.
  • Completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course upon hire. (Course cost is at employee’s own expense)
  • Completion of NFHS Concussion in Sports course.
  • Completion of MHSA Rules Clinic for Flag Football prior to season beginning.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the entire girls' flag football program including practices and game-day strategies.
  • Coaches participants in the specific skills necessary for flag football (e.g., flag pulling, route running, non-contact blocking).
  • Maintains competency in MHSA rules, regulations, and specific coaching techniques for flag football.
  • Maintains discipline and sportsmanlike conduct of all participants and enforces the policies of the District uniformly.
  • Responsible for the inventory, distribution, and collection of equipment, including flags, jerseys, and footballs.
  • Teaches and promotes the importance of teamwork, strategy, and player safety.
  • Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels.
  • Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
  • Supervises assistant coaches (if applicable) and coordinates with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling and transportation.
