About The Position

The Head Dance Coach is responsible for assisting in the development and operation of the Columbia College Dance Team. The coach will recruit and retain qualified student-athletes, plan and conduct practices, supervise team travel and competitions, and contribute to fundraising efforts. The Head Dance Coach will work under the direction of the Head Spirit Coach to promote a positive student-athlete experience while upholding the mission and values of Columbia College and the Athletics Department. Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia College's vision, mission, and values while contributing to the success of the Athletics Department and Spirit Program. Demonstrate a working knowledge of NAIA rules and maintain the integrity of the athletic program through appropriate application of those rules. Report directly to and work collaboratively with the Head Spirit Coach in the planning and administration of the Dance Team.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Experience working in collegiate athletics or a comparable athletic environment
  • Previous coaching, dance, or choreography experience at the high school, collegiate, or competitive level.
  • Ability to recruit and mentor student athletes.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of NAIA rules and maintain the integrity of the athletic program through appropriate application of those rules.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating events, operations, or customer service
  • Experience working in collegiate athletics for 3 years or more
  • Master’s degree
  • Knowledge of NAIA or collegiate athletic operations

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct team practices and skill development sessions.
  • Prepare the team for athletic contests, performances, competitions, and campus events.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, performances, and team travel.
  • Assist with coordinating travel arrangements in collaboration with the Head Spirit Coach and Athletics Department.
  • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, leadership, academic success, and the NAIA Champions of Character values.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives and community engagement activities to support the Dance Team.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, administrators, faculty, staff, alumni, and the public.
  • Attend Athletics Department and Spirit Program meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Spirit Coach or Director of Athletics.
