About The Position

Chichester School District is looking for a Head Custodian to join our team! Make an Impact with Chichester. We are looking for a candidate who will take pride in their work, keeping our schools SAFE and CLEAN for our students and staff. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. They will have the great physical endurance to cover areas and duties assigned. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.

Requirements

  • Experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep.

  • Keen eye for detail and diligence.
  • Familiar and follow guidelines for the use of safety equipment when operating power equipment.
  • State Police Clearance (Act 34)
  • Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
  • FBI Fingerprints (Act 114)
  • School Health Record - includes physical & tb test from within a year
  • Act 24 (PDE Form 6004) - Arrest/Conviction Report
  • PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release

Responsibilities

  • Has supplies and equipment, that may be needed, available.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Strip & Wax classrooms, and hallways
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Polish metalwork.
  • Washes walls, ceiling, floors, and woodwork.
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Picks up refuse from school grounds and shoveling snow.
  • Cleans up after a sick child.
  • Makes sure in house and outside activities are covered.
  • Raises and lowers American Flag.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repair work.
  • Advises Facilities Supervisor of any repairs or maintenance that is needed for equipment or building operations.
  • Secures building
  • Adheres to all safety rules for handling and disposing of cleaning agents; including universal precautions and proper use of personal protection equipment.
  • Individual is required to be familiar and follow guidelines for the use of safety equipment when operating power equipment.
  • Directly supervises up to 10 custodians.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
