About The Position

Nash Elementary School is seeking a Head Custodian to manage heating plant operations, building grounds, and junior custodians. This role involves general cleaning, maintenance, and ensuring the school environment is safe and well-kept. Weymouth Public Schools is a large, inclusive district committed to educational excellence and supporting over 5,600 students across 11 buildings.

Requirements

Experience operating a heating plant.
Ability to perform general cleaning tasks.
Skills in grounds maintenance.
Ability to order and manage supplies.
Capability to assess and perform building repairs.
Understanding of inspection department requirements.

Responsibilities

Supervise heating plant, building grounds, and junior custodians.
Operate the heating plant, including auxiliary equipment and controls.
Perform general cleaning of buildings and furnishings: sweeping, washing, waxing, and stripping floors; cleaning toilets; washing walls; disposing of rubbish; cleaning windows and light fixtures; checking doors and windows; dusting.
Supervise the care of outside grounds: mowing and raking grass, weeding, sweeping roads and sidewalks, shoveling snow and sanding areas, policing grounds.
Order and store custodian supplies weekly and yearly.
Determine necessary building repair and upkeep under the direction of the Principal, and either make repairs or submit requests.
Make emergency repairs to protect children and school property.
Ensure building conditions conform to inspection department requirements.
Perform related work as required by the Superintendent, Supervisor, or Principal.
