About The Position

The head coach is responsible for directing and administering all aspects of the Women's Wrestling program including coaching, recruitment, retention and the academic success of student athletes. This role involves demonstrating knowledge of women's wrestling through excellence in coaching, managing sport expenses and budget, marketing and promoting the sport program, participating in fundraising efforts, developing a sport schedule, and assisting with Game Environment and Community Engagement initiatives. The coach is also responsible for adhering to and documenting compliance with the policies and regulations of the University, Department of Athletics, Mountain East Conference, and the NCAA, overseeing the conduct and discipline of student athletes, planning and implementing practices and competitions, meeting team recruitment goals, and coordinating conditioning. Professional conduct and attire are expected at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Budgeting, planning and computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Coaching, Sport/Athletic Management, Education, or other closely related field desired
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in coaching at the collegiate level desired

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of women's wrestling through excellence in coaching
  • Manage sport expenses and budget in consultation with the Vice President of Athletics
  • Market and promote sport program
  • Participate in all athletic department major fundraising efforts
  • Develop a sport schedule
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Game Environment and Community Engagement initiatives within the athletics department
  • Responsible for adhering to and documenting compliance with the policies and regulations of the University, Department of Athletics, Mountain East Conference, and the NCAA
  • Responsible for the orientation of student­ athletes to guidelines
  • Oversee the conduct and discipline of student athletes
  • Plan and implement all practices and competitions
  • Meet team specific annual recruitment goal of student athletes
  • Coordinate pre-season and post-season conditioning with the Head Coach - Strength & Conditioning
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times
  • Abide by all compliance and regulatory expectations of the department, including but not limited to: Point Park University Athletic compliance, NCAA Division II & Mountain East Conference bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and Title IX Regulations
  • Attend and participate in all staff and rules education meetings
  • Review NCAA rules with student athletes when necessary and reinforce the importance of compliance
  • Facilitate the provision of all information necessary to determine prospective student athlete eligibility
  • Monitor the permissible number of contacts and evaluations utilized
  • Provide complete and accurate expense reports
  • Provide complete and accurate required information for all official visits
  • Declare playing and practice seasons and submit to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance for review and approval
  • Ensure team's compliance with NCAA rules related to playing and practice seasons including weekly athletically-related activity (CARA) logs
  • Monitor the scheduling process, verifying that the schedule meets NCAA and conference scheduling requirements and missed class time policies
  • Educate student athletes regarding NCAA regulations governing employment
  • Annually complete and pass the NCAA Coaches Learning Modules
  • Follow the established process for renewal and non-renewal of athletically-related Financial Aid
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding uniform logos, complimentary tickets and summer camps
