About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Student Life and Athletic Administration, manage all aspects of the college’s women’s volleyball program including but not limited to recruitment of qualified prospective student-athletes, enhancement of academic success, campus conduct and personal development of student-athletes, coordination of strength and conditioning program and comprehensive skill development program, leading student-athletes in intercollegiate competition, management of program resources, supervision of an Assistant Coach(es), and other duties as assigned. This role is a contractual, 12-month role (part-time) with variable time/effort expectations based on academic and athletic calendars (in-season vs. out-of-season, recruitment, etc.).

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful coaching experience at either the interscholastic or intercollegiate level
  • Knowledge of NJCAA and WPCC rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound interpersonal skills in dealing with student-athletes, college personnel and community members.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good fiscal management skills.
  • A strong commitment to the holistic student athlete, and student athlete development is required and includes the ability to lead and guide student athletes toward academic and athletic success and personal growth at the college.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful coaching at the intercollegiate level
  • Prior coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level
  • A record of successful recruitment, retention and graduation of college student-athletes

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all volleyball operations in compliance with the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) bylaws, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) bylaws and college policies and procedures.
  • Provide rules education for student-athletes and coaches regarding NJCAA and WPCC bylaws, as well college policies and procedures to ensure compliance in areas of academic eligibility, amateurism, student conduct and student-athlete integrity.
  • Recruit student-athletes for the program who fit the institutional and athletic culture of the College and whose entrance eligibility is aligned with WPCC and NJCAA standards, with an emphasis on local/regional recruitment.
  • Ensure that the recruiting process remains compliant with both WPCC and NJCAA regulations and college policies and procedures.
  • Develop, oversee, and implement all training, conditioning, skill development, and gameday activities for the volleyball program.
  • Collaborate with Director of Student Life and Athletic Administration to ensure that adequate health and safety measures (including any requisite sports medicine staffing) are in place to maintain student-athlete welfare.
  • Ensure that program operations are consistent with any institutional or government requirements related to any sort of public health emergency.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Life and Athletic Administration and Associate Vice President for Communications to coordinate the development and promotion of the women’s volleyball program.
  • Provide a strategic framework to assure the holistic development of student-athletes, enhancing their athletic growth alongside their personal and professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Student-Athlete Academic Success Coordinator to provide mentorship to student-athletes while monitoring their academic performance, ensuring timely progress towards degree completion and graduation.
  • Collaborate with athletic administration and the financial aid office to create and maintain a financial aid plan.
  • Develop financial packages for players based on residency, financial aid and scholarship ability.
  • Develop a community and campus engagement strategy for student-athletes within the program, in collaboration with the Director of Student Life and Athletic Administration.
  • Represent the Community College of Beaver County and the women’s volleyball program in a professional manner and always exhibit sportsmanship.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Life and Athletic Administration to develop and oversee the budget and resource management for the women’s volleyball program, including management of the yearly competition schedule.
  • Perform other departmental- and program-related duties as required.
  • Supervise any and all Assistant Coaches.
