About The Position

Walsh University is a member of NCAA Division II that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach will lead and manage all facets of the program with emphasis on teaching and mentoring team member’s relative to sport specific skills, NCAA II rules and regulations, individual and team development concepts as well as life skills education. Under the supervision of the Vice President for Athletics/Director of Athletics. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Coaching duties: budgets, scheduling, transportation, practices, game preparation Educates and mentors student athletes in all aspects of their holistic development; mind, body and spirit Procurement of equipment as necessary Supervision of Assistant Coaches Supervision of Work-Study Students assigned to W. Lacrosse Development of an effective Off-season Program Development and Operation of Clinics and Camps Establishing an environment that supports and promotes academic excellence in student-athletes Recruiting Responsible for abiding by NCAA II compliance rules and legislation as well as educating student-athletes about those rules Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President/Director of Athletics Failure to comply by NCAA II rules will be grounds for discipline and/or termination This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) of this position. Requirements

  • Must demonstrate an understanding the Walsh University Statement of Faith and a commitment to support the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae and the Catholic intellectual tradition.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Work Experience: At least 3 years’ experience as a coach at the collegiate level or other significant experience relative to coaching lacrosse and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Skills and abilities: Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
  • Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, indoor and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.
  • Must be able to handle and communicate over loud noises in gymnasium/indoors/outdoors; whistles, crowd noise; yelling and screaming.
