Highland High School is seeking a passionate and committed Head Coach for Unified Sports. The role promotes inclusion, teamwork, personal development, and sportsmanship by leading teams made up of students with and without intellectual disabilities. The coach will lead multiple Unified Sports during the school year. Assigned sports may include soccer, basketball, track and field, flag football, dance, or other Unified activities; the coach will not necessarily lead every sport offered. Specific assignments will be determined by the school based on program needs, student participation, and the coach’s experience and availability. Compensation is based on the coaching-day structure established by the Written Agreement and the number of assigned coaching days. Current teachers are paid their daily rate multiplied by assigned coaching days. Non-teachers and first-time coaches are paid the District coaching daily rate multiplied by assigned coaching days. The stipend is paid in two installments: one-half in December and the remainder in June. Payment depends on completion of required trainings, employment requirements, and assigned coaching responsibilities. Before beginning coaching responsibilities, the selected candidate must satisfy applicable Special Olympics Utah registration, screening, certification, and training requirements; hold current concussion training and First Aid and CPR certification; complete required SLCSD Vector trainings, including FERPA/Student Privacy training; and meet any additional school or District employment and coaching requirements. The coach is responsible for keeping certifications current and completing annual or recurring trainings by established deadlines. A criminal background check must be successfully completed before working with students.
