About The Position

Le Moyne College is seeking a Head Coach, Swimming/Diving and Director, Aquatics to lead a comprehensive, high-quality NCAA Division I athletic program. This role involves assessing and implementing strategies to enhance team and individual athletic and academic performance, fostering a culture of holistic personal growth for student-athletes, and managing all swimming pool activities as the College's Aquatic Director. The position requires a balance of instructional duties and recruitment/administrative/fiscal management tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in the conduct of a collegiate level swimming program with proven success in recruiting high quality student athletes and/or equivalent related experiences.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply NCAA and conference rules as they pertain to the men's and women's swimming programs.
  • Must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
  • Must complete all required NCAA DI Institute modules prior to participating in off-campus recruiting activities and countable athletically related activities.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills needed.
  • Must possess a valid, current U.S. driver’s license.
  • Must have reliable transportation or the ability to rent a vehicle when needed to travel to recruiting sites.
  • May need to drive campus vehicles for local events.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree highly desirable.
  • Certificates for Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard/CPR/AED, and Water Safety Instructor.
  • Preferred certificates in Lifeguard Instructor and Instructor Trainer.
  • Preferred professional certifications with the College Swim Coaches Association of America and/or the American Swim Coaches Association.
  • Preferred Aquatic Director experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, implement, and evaluate strategies to enhance team and individual performance and sportsmanship.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to student-athletes.
  • Prepare individuals and the team for competition.
  • Coordinate with the Peak Performance Team (Strength and Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Nutrition, Mental Health) for comprehensive training programs.
  • Manage game operations, including facility and equipment setup, officials, statisticians, and travel arrangements.
  • Ensure program compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Submit all budget requests, documentation, and receipts according to policy, and monitor program budgets.
  • Strategically award and monitor athletics grants in aid to support academic progress.
  • Identify, recruit, and retain athletically and academically talented prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist with gender equity planning and Title IX compliance.
  • Promote and offer experiential learning, internship, and work-study opportunities.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective student-athletes, coaches, and parents.
  • Maintain accurate recruiting records.
  • Provide academic support and monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Participate in college and department committees and events.
  • Complete all required online educational and training modules.
  • Respond to media requests and work with Athletic Communications.
  • Support and participate in fundraising activities, cultivating donor relationships and meeting development targets.
  • Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches.
  • Schedule and staff all pool functions, activities, and events.
  • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive pool maintenance program.
  • Hire, staff, and supervise lifeguards.
  • Maintain pool safety equipment.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including attending conferences.
  • Work cooperatively with all members of the Athletic Department and other campus or community offices.
  • Demonstrate and role-model Le Moyne's mission-based competencies.
  • Strengthen digital literacy skills.
