About The Position

The Head Coach, Strength & Conditioning provides expertise, guidance, and training in the area of strength training and physical conditioning for all intercollegiate athletes. The Strength & Conditioning Coach will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Mustang Stadium fitness center. The Strength & Conditioning coach will oversee the development of programming for all 28 NCAA sports, in addition to supervising assistant strength and conditioning personnel. The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach will supervise the NCAA Coaches who will assist in strength and conditioning as assigned by the Athletics Executive Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Expertise, guidance, and training in strength training and physical conditioning for intercollegiate athletes.
  • Coordination of day-to-day operations of the Mustang Stadium fitness center.
  • Development of programming for all 28 NCAA sports.
  • Supervision of assistant strength and conditioning personnel.
  • Supervision of NCAA Coaches assisting in strength and conditioning.
  • Cooperation with Assistant AD for Facilities and External Partnerships, and head coaches on fitness center schedules.
  • Maintenance of digital athlete performance records.
  • Guidance and training techniques for student athletes.
  • Development of in-season and out-of-season strength and conditioning programs.
  • Solicitation of feedback from head coaches.
  • Monitoring of voluntary individual workouts for safety.
  • Management of equipment inventory.
  • Collaboration with Athletic Training and Physical Therapy staff.
  • Inspection of facility and equipment.
  • Determination of budget needs.
  • Provision of guidelines for nutrition, recovery, and health practices.
  • Serving as a resource for campus community health and wellness.
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising athletic department staff, interns, and students.
  • Proficiency in Arms and Teamworks Hub software.
  • Assistance with fundraising initiatives and promotion of the Campaign for Mustang Athletics.
  • Participation in community service activities.
  • Attendance at staff meetings.
  • Service on committees.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the Mustang Stadium Fitness Center schedule for all strength and conditioning workouts in cooperation with the Assistant AD for Facilities and External Partnerships, and the head coach of each specific sport.
  • Maintain digital records on each athlete to track performance metrics and analytical data for performance optimization.
  • Provide student athletes with guidance and proper training techniques in the strength and conditioning programs developed by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
  • Develop in-season and out-of-season strength and conditioning programs for athletes for 28 NCAA sports.
  • Solicit feedback from head coach of each sport on program goals.
  • As per NCAA rules, monitor voluntary individual workouts by athletes for safety purposes.
  • Manage equipment inventory within the stadium fitness center.
  • Work in conjunction with Athletic Training and Physical Therapy staff to ensure the effective completion of return to play and preventative injury protocols for all NCAA student athletes.
  • Maintain a weekly, monthly, and annual inspection of the strength and conditioning facility and equipment using a formal checklist and coordinate action where needed
  • Determine budget needs for the operation of the Mustang Stadium fitness center.
  • Provide general guidelines for nutrition, recovery, and general health practices.
  • Serve as a resource for improving the health and wellness of the campus community as requested by the Athletic Director.
  • Serve as an active member and leader in the Strength and Conditioning staff, which includes recruiting, training, and supervising athletic department staff, interns and students in the comprehensive strength and conditioning of student-athletes.
  • Work within the Arms and Teamworks Hub software as needed.
  • Work with Institutional Advancement to aid in fundraising initiatives and to promote the Campaign for Mustang Athletics on an annual basis.
  • Promote and participate in community service activities to build the connection between our department and the campus community.
  • Attend Staff meetings as required.
  • Serve on committees as needed.
