About The Position

Notre Dame Prep is seeking a Head Coach for Strength & Conditioning. This part-time, seasonal position is responsible for developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes across various sports. The focus is on enhancing athletic performance, reducing injury risk, and promoting overall fitness among high school student-athletes. The role runs approximately mid-August through mid-June each academic year.

Requirements

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent certification through an accredited sport science organization (NASM, NCCA) is required.
  • Previous experience coaching strength and conditioning at the high school or collegiate level is required.
  • Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, sports nutrition, and injury prevention.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using strength and conditioning equipment and technology.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for the athletic teams.
  • Implement and supervise strength and conditioning programs for the athletic teams, both in-season and off-season.
  • Educate athletes on the importance of strength training, conditioning, nutrition, and recovery strategies.
  • Assist with scheduling the use of the weight room.
  • Teach proper lifting techniques and exercise forms to ensure student-athlete safety and effectiveness.
  • Provide individualized coaching to student-athletes, focusing on skill development and injury prevention.
  • Monitor progress and adjust training programs as necessary.
  • Recommend equipment enhancements to the athletic facilities as it pertains to performance.
  • Maintain a safe training environment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and all safety protocols are followed.
  • Stay informed about and comply with relevant regulations and guidelines concerning student-athlete health and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with coaches, athletic trainers, and other staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to student-athlete training and recovery.
