About The Position

This position is for a Head Coach for the Softball team at Vero Beach High School. The hiring process involves several steps, including obtaining an Athletic Coaching Certification from the Florida Department of Education and applying through the district's website. Once an offer of employment is extended and accepted, Human Resources will schedule an orientation appointment, which includes a fingerprinting and workplace screening fee of $118.00. Employment cannot begin until orientation is complete and final clearance is given by Human Resources.

Requirements

Submit an application for an Athletic Coaching Certification with the Florida Department of Education.
Apply to become an Athletic Coach through the district's website.
Obtain either a Three-Year or Five-Year Florida Athletic Coaching Certificate if not holding a valid Florida Educator's Certificate.
For a Three-Year Certificate: Submit application and $75.00 fee to Florida Department of Education, be approved to volunteer, and complete fingerprinting.
For a Five-Year Certificate: Submit application and $75.00 fee to Florida Department of Education, meet specialization requirements (3 semester hours in Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries and drug use, 3 semester hours in coaching theory, 3 semester hours in theory and practice of coaching a specific sport), hold a valid CPR certificate from American Heart Association or American Red Cross, and hold First Aid certification including AED training. Also, be approved for employment and complete fingerprinting with results no older than one year.
Complete fingerprinting/workplace screening ($118.00 fee).
