About The Position

The Head Coach manages all aspects of the program as overseen by the Assistant Director – Athletics and Recreation. The Head Coach is also responsible for communicating with athletic staff to manage all practices, game preparation, logistics, season administration, and recruitment of new players for the program at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA).

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years as a previous head soccer coach at the high school and/or collegiate level or three (3) to four (4) years of soccer assistant coaching experience at the high school or college level or as a soccer player at the college level.
  • First Aid/Adult CPR/AED.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct, and oversee the CIA soccer program including coaching, team meetings and overall organization of team matters.
  • Attend informational interest meetings at the beginning of each season.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct tryouts for the soccer program; inform the Assistant Director – Athletics and Recreation and participants of final selections.
  • Coordinate skill development and design coaching strategies which prepare the team for competition.
  • Mentor student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth.
  • Foster a culture of positivity, support, and confidence.
  • Responsible for the planning, organization, and supervision of at least three (3) days of practice per week during the season.
  • Manage the safety, health, and conduct of players during team meetings, practices, and games.
  • Travel with the team for all away contests, all of which are on the weekends.
  • Drive a 14-passenger mini-bus, if necessary.
  • Assist the Athletics Department with game day management.
  • Assist with the maintenance and inventory of sports equipment and supplies, including uniform disbursement and collection.
  • Identify and recruit incoming and prospective student athletes.
  • Provide team updates to the Assistant Director – Athletics and Recreation.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
