About The Position

Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach. This full-time, 12-month administrative position provides leadership for all aspects of the University's NCAA Division III men's ice hockey program, including student-athlete development, competitive success, recruitment, program administration, and strategic planning. The Head Coach serves as an educator, mentor, and leader who develops a culture of accountability, belonging, teamwork, competitive excellence, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the program while developing student-athletes, hiring, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating assistant coaches, collaborating with colleagues across the University, responsibly stewarding program resources, and strengthening relationships with alumni, supporters, and external partners in support of the long-term success of Wentworth Men's Ice Hockey.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of five years of demonstrated success coaching ice hockey, including progressive leadership responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain academically qualified student-athletes.
Valid driver’s license.
Demonstrated strong communication skills and experience building inclusive team environments.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree.
Collegiate coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA level.
Five to seven years of collegiate coaching experience with previous head coaching or significant assistant coaching leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for all aspects of the NCAA Division III men's ice hockey program, establishing competitive goals, setting program expectations, and cultivating a positive, accountable, and student-centered team culture.
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the program, including: planning and conducting practices; preparing for competition; developing game strategy; scheduling contests; coordinating team travel; overseeing equipment management; and evaluating program performance.
Manages the program budget, supports fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives, and fulfills all fiscal and administrative responsibilities in a timely and responsible manner.
Is responsible for recruiting, supervising, and mentoring a part-time assistant coaching staff by providing ongoing mentorship, regular feedback, and opportunities for professional development.
Develops and maintains productive relationships with FMC Ice Sports at the Allied Veterans Rink in Everett and other facility partners to ensure effective scheduling and operations.
Provides strategic leadership for recruiting and roster management that reflects the values of Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Wentworth Athletics Department.
Develops and executes an annual recruiting strategy that supports institutional and program enrollment goals while identifying student-athletes who will thrive academically, socially, and competitively at Wentworth.
Cultivates relationships with prospects and their families, clearly articulating the unique value of a Wentworth education and the University's commitment to student success and professional development.
Is committed to the holistic development of student-athletes by promoting academic success, leadership development, personal well-being, and competitive excellence.
Partners with cross-institutional colleagues to support student well-being, academic achievement, leadership development, personal accountability, and overall student success.
Encourages student-athletes to engage fully in the academic, leadership, and co-curricular opportunities available through the University.
Assigned a secondary duty/administrative responsibility which are reviewed and assigned annually based on the candidate’s qualifications, seasonal responsibilities, and department needs.
Supports Athletics Department operations through game management responsibilities, conference and NCAA championship administration, and departmental signature events.
Serves as an active member of the Division of Student Affairs and the Athletics Department by contributing to divisional and departmental planning, committee work, collaborative initiatives, and a shared commitment to student-athlete success.
Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and departments across the University to support student success and advance departmental, divisional, and institutional priorities.
Represents Wentworth Athletics and the University at institutional, conference, alumni, community, and professional events, serving as a positive ambassador for the athletics department and the University.
Maintains required certifications, completes mandatory institutional training, and fulfills administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
Ensures compliance with NCAA Division III legislation, Conference of New England policies, University policies, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
