About The Position

The Head Coach, Cross Country/Asst. Coach, T&F, PE&W Instructor for DAPER Intercollegiate Sports will be responsible for leading and administering all aspects of the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country programs. This includes coaching and supervising student-athletes in cross country and distance events, assisting with the Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field programs, and recruiting prospective student-athletes. The role also involves counseling, mentoring, and supporting student-athletes, coordinating team training, competition preparation, and meet-day responsibilities. Ensuring compliance with MIT, conference, and NCAA Division III rules and regulations is crucial. Additionally, the position will coordinate and reconcile team travel and logistics, oversee team development activities such as leadership training and conflict resolution, support mentorship programs for team members and alumni, and assist with department-wide initiatives as assigned. The incumbent is expected to stay current in professional development for both coaching and physical education instruction. Teaching responsibilities include instruction in the required Physical Education and Wellness course program.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of coaching experience, preferably at the college/university level
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to physical education, exercise science, kinesiology, or a related area, or equivalent proven instructional experience
  • Strong administrative, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
  • Appropriate certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Biohazards (required within 30 days of hire)
