About The Position

Highland High School is seeking a passionate and committed individual to serve as the Head Coach for the Cheer program. This position is essential to the continued growth and success of the Cheer program and plays a critical role in promoting athletic excellence, personal development, sportsmanship, and school pride.

Requirements

  • NFHS certifications uploaded in Aktivate (formerly Register My Athlete)
  • Coaching Endorsement (PE/Coaching Degree or NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching)
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • NFHS Concussion in Sport
  • NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  • NFHS Heat Illness Prevention
  • NFHS Bullying, Hazing, and Inappropriate Behaviors
  • Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training
  • Annual Coaching Clinic (must be completed prior to the start of each sport season)
  • Utah Educator Professional Standards (Read and E-sign)
  • SLCSD Annual Athletic Coach Training & Coaching Agreement
  • SLCSD Vector Trainings, including FERPA/Student Privacy training

Nice To Haves

  • Previous high school cheer experience
  • Experience working with high school students in an athletic or mentorship capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to develop athletes at various skill levels
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Promote athletic excellence, personal development, sportsmanship, and school pride.
  • Lead and develop the Cheer program.
