About The Position

The Head Coach - Cheer position is responsible for leading the cheerleading program, ensuring adherence to school district and AIA rules, and fostering a positive team environment. This role involves coaching, communication with stakeholders, and managing program logistics.

Requirements

Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).
Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports ï¿½ What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).
An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion of a sport-specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2).
Current Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns for the sport to be coached.
Skill in communicating with all stakeholders.
Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA (www.aiaonline.org) and Peoria Unified School District #11.
Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Experience with online platforms like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.

Responsibilities

Lead the cheerleading program.
Ensure adherence to rules set out by AIA and Peoria Unified School District #11.
Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings.
Utilize online platforms required for specific sports like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.
Establish a sense of camaraderie among players through teambuilding, fundraising, and service projects.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Coach essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns for the sport.
Potentially drive students to and from competitions.
