About The Position

The Head Coach - Cheer position is responsible for leading the cheerleading program, ensuring adherence to school district and AIA rules, and fostering a positive team environment. This role involves coaching, communication with stakeholders, and managing program logistics.

Requirements

  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).
  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports � What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).
  • An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion of a sport-specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2).
  • Current Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns for the sport to be coached.
  • Skill in communicating with all stakeholders.
  • Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA (www.aiaonline.org) and Peoria Unified School District #11.
  • Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license.

  • Experience with online platforms like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cheerleading program.
  • Ensure adherence to rules set out by AIA and Peoria Unified School District #11.
  • Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings.
  • Utilize online platforms required for specific sports like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.
  • Establish a sense of camaraderie among players through teambuilding, fundraising, and service projects.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Coach essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns for the sport.
  • Potentially drive students to and from competitions.
