About The Position

This is a Head Coach position for Boys Basketball at Ira Murphy Elementary. The role involves coaching, managing team activities, and adhering to district and AIA rules. The position requires specific certifications and clearances, and may involve travel and working outside normal hours.

Requirements

Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).
Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports ï¿½ What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).
An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion sport specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2).
Current Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules, and safety concerns for the sport.
Skill in communicating with all stakeholders.
Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA and Peoria Unified School District.
Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Experience with online platforms like MaxPreps and HUDL.

Responsibilities

Coach boys basketball, teaching essential skills, techniques, and rules.
Ensure adherence to rules set by AIA and Peoria Unified School District.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Utilize online platforms for sports management (e.g., MaxPreps, HUDL).
Establish camaraderie among players through teambuilding, fundraising, and service projects.
Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings.
Transport students to and from competitions if required.
