About The Position

Head Baseball Coach Shorter University Shorter University, a NCAA Division II institution that competes in the Conference Carolinas ,is currently accepting applicants for the position of Head Baseball Coach. This position will be responsible for sport specific coaching, Student-Athlete development, evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes, budget management, and overall administrative duties. This position will report to the Athletic Director. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of the University, the Athletics Department, Conference Carolinas, and the NCAA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
  • Coaching experience at the NCAA Division I, II, or III level (assistant or head coach); NAIA or Junior College program
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to the development of student-athletes on and off the field
  • Understanding of NCAA and Conference Carolinas compliance and regulations
  • Ability to positively represent the university’s mission and values

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a collegiate or professional (MLB) player preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build a competitive collegiate program
  • Experience with fundraising and program development
  • Commitment to community engagement and service

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the baseball program, including fall and spring seasons
  • Plan and conduct practices, game preparation, and in-game strategy
  • Recruit and retain prospective student-athletes
  • Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes
  • Supervise assistant coaches and graduate assistants
  • Develop and implement strength and conditioning programs
  • Manage program budget and ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, Conference Carolinas, and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Coordinate team travel, meals, and logistics
  • Establish and oversee study hall programs for student-athletes
  • Enforce team discipline and maintain high behavioral standards
  • Lead fundraising initiatives for the baseball program
  • Build positive relationships across the athletics department and university
  • Engage in community outreach and service activities
  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes and represent the university with integrity
