About The Position

The Head Coach - Baseball position is responsible for leading the baseball program, including coaching, player development, and ensuring adherence to school district and AIA rules. This role involves managing team activities, communicating with stakeholders, and potentially traveling for competitions.

Requirements

  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).
  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).
  • An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion sport specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2).
  • Current Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules and safety concerns for the sport to be coached.
  • Skill in communicating with all stakeholders.
  • Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA and Peoria Unified School District.
  • Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the baseball program.
  • Coach and develop players.
  • Ensure adherence to rules set out by AIA and Peoria Unified School District.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings.
  • Utilize online platforms required for specific sports like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.
  • Establish a sense of camaraderie among players through teambuilding, fundraising, service projects, etc.
  • Potentially drive students to and from competitions.
