About The Position

Join a locally owned and operated store to help deliver health, beauty and convenience services in your community, and keep the customer at the centre of everything you do. The Head Cashier manages the resources (human, physical, financial) of the cashier department. The Head Cashier works closely with other store departments to ensure store objectives and customer service excellence are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and ensure cashiers demonstrate our values.
  • Conduct interviews and recommend final candidates for cashier hiring.
  • Ensure cashiers adhere to all store standards.
  • Schedule cashier shifts, days off, and vacations according to established guidelines.
  • Train employees based on positions and provide coaching and instruction.
  • Assist with cashier performance reviews in collaboration with the Store Manager.
  • Able to assist the team on the store floor and in the warehouse as needed.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided beyond expectations.
  • Ensure employees present an adequate image to the public in accordance with the uniform policy.
  • Ensure cashiers ask if customers have their PC Optimum card with every transaction.
  • Promote company initiatives related to fundraising and PC Optimum with customers and employees.
  • Take responsibility for promotions and targeted offers.
  • Ensure all cashiers are aware of weekly promotions and the price accuracy policy.
  • Ensure lottery ticket displays meet standards and laws and are locked.
  • Perform office and banking tasks.
  • Contribute to all coin orders, resolve all discrepancies with cash and coin orders.
  • Maintain the cashier office and safe according to store standards.
  • Print the anomaly report each week, determining discrepancies.
  • Print the deficit and surplus report weekly; identify discrepancies and investigate their cause.
  • Be knowledgeable about relevant customer accounts.
  • Ensure all loss prevention systems and procedures are carried out according to standards.
  • Ensure bag check procedures are followed.
