About The Position

Bedford North Lawrence High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our boys wrestling program. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive and competitive environment that promotes the physical, mental, and emotional development of student-athletes. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of wrestling techniques, and a commitment to academic achievement and sportsmanship.

Requirements

Previous coaching experience in wrestling at the high school level or higher is preferred.
Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, strategies, and rules.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Ability to work collaboratively with fellow coaches, school staff, and parents.
Commitment to the academic success of student-athletes and the ability to balance athletics with educational responsibilities.
First Aid and CPR certification, or the willingness to obtain certification.
A valid driver's license and the ability to travel for competitions.
A strong commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor's degree in education, sports management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive wrestling program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and personal growth.
Plan and conduct daily practices, ensuring that all athletes receive appropriate instruction and feedback.
Organize and oversee all aspects of the wrestling season, including scheduling competitions, managing travel arrangements, and coordinating team events.
Recruit and retain student-athletes, fostering a welcoming and inclusive team culture.
Monitor the academic progress of wrestlers, ensuring that they maintain eligibility and prioritize their education.
Collaborate with other coaches, school staff, and parents to promote the wrestling program and enhance the overall student-athlete experience.
Maintain safety standards during practices and competitions, ensuring that all equipment is in good condition and that athletes are following proper techniques.
Conduct regular assessments of athletes' performance and development, providing constructive feedback and setting goals for improvement.
Represent the wrestling program at school and community events, promoting the values of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
Stay current with wrestling trends, techniques, and coaching strategies through professional development opportunities.
