About The Position

Seaman USD #345 has an opening for an Assistant Wrestling Coach for the 2026-27 school year. The position is responsible for coaching student athletes in competitive wrestling techniques to prepare them for competition and motivating them to develop an appreciation for the sport. This position runs from 11/17/26 to 2/28/27. A candidate must have coaching experience and/or have competed in wrestling.

Responsibilities

Works with athletes during practices, matches, pre-season & off-season conditioning.
Assist in organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
Assesses skill level and assists in determining team designation and depth chart.
Helps develop a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
Works with the head coach and athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Observes athletes, during matches and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
Helps monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
Assist in conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student.
Follows KSHSAA rules and regulations governing our athletic program.
Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, and spectators.
Follows established procedures for weight management, proper diet, hygiene, uniforms, etc.
Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
Demonstrates support of our SHS Girls and Jr. Viking Wrestling club programs.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
