About The Position

DIGCO, a Quanta Services company, is seeking an experienced HDD Operator / Locator to support underground gas utility construction projects. This role is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment and/or locating drilling paths to support underground utility installation activities. The HDD Operator / Locator plays a critical role in ensuring bores are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications and utility requirements.

Requirements

Experience operating HDD equipment and/or utility locating systems in underground utility construction
Understanding of underground utility locating, bore path tracking, and excavation safety practices
Ability to read utility maps, bore plans, and construction drawings
Strong communication and teamwork skills in active construction environments
Ability to work safely around underground utilities and energized infrastructure
Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing

Nice To Haves

Gas utility, pipeline, or underground construction experience preferred
Bilingual / Spanish-speaking abilities are a plus

Responsibilities

Operate HDD equipment and/or locate drilling operations for underground utility installation projects
Read and interpret utility locates, bore plans, and jobsite layouts
Monitor bore path alignment and communicate with crews to maintain safe drilling operations
Support drilling fluid management, tooling setup, and equipment maintenance activities
Conduct daily inspections of drilling and locating equipment and report maintenance needs
Assist with potholing, utility verification, and jobsite preparation activities
Follow all company and client safety procedures related to excavation and directional drilling operations
Work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
Perform additional duties as assigned
