About The Position

At Parker Lord, our production operators do more than run machines — they help manufacture the precision components that support demanding aerospace and industrial applications. We are seeking an HCL Production Shim Operator to join our High-Capacity Laminates area at the Parker Lord Erie facility. In this role, you will perform a variety of blanking, forming, deburring, machining, and inspection operations to produce metal component parts that meet exact drawing specifications. This is a hands-on manufacturing role for someone who takes pride in quality, enjoys working with production equipment, and wants to be part of a team where precision, safety, and consistency matter every day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English
  • Ability to work off shift, likely 2nd shift, for an extended period of time
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to learn and become certified in Parker Lord operator inspection requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with blanking, forming, deburring, machining, and/or inspection in a manufacturing setting
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Trade school experience
  • College degree
  • Experience using SAP or another material requirements planning system
  • Experience using comparators, precision measuring instruments, or inspection equipment

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate punch presses, power forming machines, deburring equipment, lathe machines, and related equipment
  • Manufacture metal component parts to drawing specifications
  • Perform blanking, forming, deburring, machining, and minor rework operations
  • Inspect parts using visual and mechanical inspection methods to confirm product conformity
  • Use comparators and other precision measuring instruments to verify parts meet drawing requirements
  • Apply working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing when required
  • Complete product paperwork and computer transactions accurately and on time using SAP
  • Work closely with operators and department support staff to share best practices and support smooth shift changeovers
  • Maintain focus while performing repetitive production operations that support expected production output
  • Participate in activities that improve safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity
  • Support LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Attain Parker Lord operator inspection certification after hire, with training provided
