Requirements

  • Class A CDL with minimum 3 years articulated experience (tractor trailer combination)
  • Previous heavy haul experience a plus
  • Knowledge of FMCSA cargo securement rules
  • Intricate knowledge of proper methods of loading/unloading and securing loads properly.
  • Must be experienced with low profile hydraulic detach neck (lowboy) trailers, 3 axle and above, and heavy loads in excess of 15 tons.
  • Experience with heavy haul/wide loads in urban/suburban traffic without full escort.
  • Understand and carry out oral instructions
  • Read and carry out written instructions to perform work tasks
  • Work at varying heights
  • Recognize, avoid, and report safety hazards
  • Assemble and disassemble objects
  • Operate equipment and power tools
  • See hazards, safety warnings, and barriers
  • Bend knees for lifting and routine work tasks
  • Stoop for work positioning and lifting to perform work tasks
  • Lift maximum 50 lbs without assistance
  • Ability to comprehend, and respond to audible/visual instructions, alarms and warnings
  • Climb/balance on ladders, scaffolding, and structures for work tasks
  • Kneel for work positioning and work task performance
  • Reach above shoulders and away from body to perform work tasks
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity to perform work tasks

Responsibilities

  • Follow all health, safely, and environmental requirements
  • Perform cleanup duties
  • Perform material handling and storage duties
  • Identify, use, and care of common hand and power tools
  • Use and care of craft specific tools and equipment
  • Knowledge and application of craft related mathematics
  • Knowledge and use of safety standards and best safety practices relevant to rigging, Inspection of rigging equipment and hardware
  • Knowledge and application of common hitches, Emergency stop signal, Basic crane hand signals, Knot tying (bowline & clove hitch), and use of rigging equipment relevant to craft specific tasks
  • Read and use vehicles operator's manual
  • Identify vehicle safety equipment
  • Inspect all vehicle systems before start-up
  • Perform proper vehicle start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures
  • Perform care and cleanup of vehicle
  • Perform vehicle inspection, service and maintenance as required
  • Remain in control and in charge of all loading and unloading of any/all equipment, ensuring load limits (weight, length, height, width) are not exceeded and load is properly secured per FMCSA/DOT cargo securement requirements.
  • Inspect all equipment prior to loading and following unload.
  • Operate equipment to load/unload, including dozer, excavator, grader, backhoe, asphalt/concrete paver, rollers, compactors, front end loaders, fork lifts, etc.
  • Performs operator level inspections and maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment at start and end of loads and shifts.
  • Completes all required daily driver log/vehicle inspections along with JSA/STA.
  • All other duties as assigned.
