About The Position

The HAZMAT (HM) / HAZARDOUS WASTE (HW) Coordinator primary area of focus is being able to distinguish Hazmat (HM) from Hazardous Waste (HW), Implementing Hazardous Communication Training Programs, and is responsible for ensuring the safe storage, handling, and distribution of hazardous materials in full compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. This role includes overseeing inventory control, implementing and enforcing safety protocols, and providing training to employees on proper HAZMAT procedures to reduce risks and maintain a safe work environment. The coordinator also performs regular audits to ensure regulatory adherence and operational safety. Success in this position requires strong leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of environmental and safety regulations to effectively manage HAZMAT/ HAZARDOUS WASTE operations and promote workplace safety.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of Classes 1-9 of Dangerous goods
  • Problem solving abilities and the ability to handle unknown issues in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-starter focused on accomplishing results.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Completed the A-493-0331 Intro to Hazmat Ashore Course
  • Completed the A-493-0880 HW Generation and Handling Course
  • Knowledgeable of TC MAX & HMIRS/ HMMS programs
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Must pass a government background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely documentation of goods for products received and delivered.
  • Update all Chemicals in Inventory in TC MAX and AUL: Hazardous Materials Information Resource System. (HMIRS) / Hazardous Material Management System (HMMS) databases.
  • Timely completion of paperwork associated with receiving and shipping daily.
  • Loading and unloading products after receiving goods and for delivery.
  • Accurate, timely, and safe product deliveries.
  • Ensure all MSDS sheets are current, and processes are in place that will ensure accurate and timely updates.
  • Pull inventory.
  • Communicate with the customer about the placement of the delivery.
  • Organizing the warehouse and yard materials.
  • Comply with all company and customer safety requirements.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected.
  • Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Stay current with federal procurement regulations, GSA guidelines.
