About The Position

AlphaGov is seeking a Hazard Mitigation Planner to lead a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan update, including HAZUS risk modeling. The role coordinates participating communities, assesses hazard exposure, and develops mitigation priorities that local governments can carry forward into implementation. The planner manages the planning process, performs or directs technical analysis, and produces a complete plan for state and FEMA review. The planner reviews the existing mitigation plan, prior review comments, available hazard data, and progress on mitigation actions; coordinates jurisdictions, planning committee meetings, stakeholder interviews, and public engagement; and updates hazard profiles, vulnerability assessments, and community capability assessments. The role uses HAZUS and GIS to evaluate exposure and potential losses, documents data sources, assumptions, and limitations, and assesses risks to people, buildings, critical facilities, and infrastructure. The planner develops and prioritizes mitigation actions with jurisdiction-specific responsibilities, potential funding sources, and implementation timelines; writes the updated plan and establishes procedures for monitoring progress and maintaining it; and addresses state and FEMA review comments while supporting participating jurisdictions through adoption and approval. Applicants should identify their HAZUS experience and current professional certifications and submit a résumé plus a brief summary of relevant engagements, including jurisdictions, role, HAZUS analyses, and approval status.
