About The Position

OceanaGold’s Haile Mine is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join the team to operate a variety of haul trucks. This role involves ensuring the safe and reliable operation of haul trucks, reporting hazards, and maximizing machine performance. The position requires adherence to company procedures and effective communication.

Requirements

1 year experience operating equipment
Willingness to work night shift
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Excellent problem-solving skills with complex problems, including both definition of the problem and generation and evaluation of solutions.
Excellent planning and organisational skills, including goal setting, group performance monitoring and the ability to modify priorities where necessary to achieve these goals.

Effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to convince others to co-operate and contribute.

Responsibilities

Operation of haul trucks
Ensure the haul truck is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures
Report any operational hazards to the Supervisor
Ensure the haul truck is operated for reliability (O4R)
Operate the haul truck productively while maximizing machine life and machine performance
Communication via 2-way radio
Assists in mine support activities as necessary
Perform pre-shift inspection and document appropriately
