About The Position

Schmidt Construction Company, part of the Levy Group of Companies, is seeking a Haul Truck Driver to work at our Menzer location in Colorado Springs, CO. The Haul Truck Driver operates off-road haul trucks to transport raw materials such as aggregate, rock, and other materials within the quarry. Ensures safe, efficient movement of materials while maintaining equipment and following all site safety procedures.

Requirements

Experience operating off-road haul trucks or similar heavy equipment preferred
Knowledge of quarry operations and material handling
Strong understanding of safety practices in a heavy industrial environment
Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
Basic mechanical knowledge preferred
Must have valid driver’s license
Ability to read and write
Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment
Ability to climb in and out of equipment multiple times per shift
Ability to work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.)
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception
Ability to work long hours, including weekends or overtime as needed

Responsibilities

Operates haul truck to transport materials within the quarry site
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment
Loads, hauls, and dumps materials in designated areas
Maintains proper communication with loader operators, supervisors, and other crew members
Monitors equipment for mechanical issues and reports defects promptly
Follows designated haul routes and traffic patterns
Maintains safe speeds and proper load distribution
Assists with general site cleanup and housekeeping
Performs minor maintenance such as fueling, greasing, and checking fluid levels
Adheres to all safety policies and procedures at all times
Assists other crew members as needed
Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
