About The Position

Cobb is seeking a Full-Time Hatchery Worker for their Pull Crew in Timpson, TX. This role is responsible for pulling chicks, preparing them for processing, disposing of substandard chicks, and washing/disinfecting the pull room and hatchery areas. The position involves monitoring hatchers and setters, evaluating chicks, and ensuring the shipment of healthy birds. Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must be willing to achieve and maintain a respirator certification
  • TM’s must remain clean shaven during all scheduled work hours.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly push or pull 500 lbs. and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to stand majority of shift on a concrete floor; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth per caption; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Respirator certification is required and maintained by testing on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Pulling of chicks and preparing chicks for processing
  • Properly disposing of substandard chicks
  • Washing and disinfecting of the pull room
  • Cleaning and sanitizing hatchery areas including chick room and main hall
  • Removing chicks from hatchers when ready to process
  • Monitoring hatchers and setters
  • Evaluating chicks prior to shipments
  • Meeting all certification requirements for wearing a full face respirator (PFT and RFT)
  • Pitches chickens onto belt
  • Taking hatcher basket off stack of 15 high
  • Running chick counter and placing papers in chick boxes
  • Operating a high pressure and regular water hose
  • Cleaning/sanitizing lids and dollies
  • Setting eggs
  • Prepping chick room
  • Pitching chicks onto belt and stacking/unstacking hatcher baskets
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area
