About The Position

This position performs a variety of hatchery tasks while maintaining a safe work environment and following Tyson policies and procedures. The worker assists the supervisor with daily hatchery operations. Duties include pulling hatcher baskets into the separator room, cleaning hatchers and drains, moving boxes and egg buggies with a dolly, cleaning hatchery floors, monitoring hatchers and setters, processing chick trays and other supplies through a tray washer, and training to operate the separator. The role requires working in warm, humid, dusty conditions with allergens such as chick down, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

Must be willing to perform all essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to learn and/or understand machines.
Ability to stand for 8–10 hours and bend, squat, push, pull, and repetitively lift approximately 10 pounds.
Ability to work in a dusty environment with high allergens, including chick down.
Ability to work in a warm, humid environment.
Must wear required PPE and follow safety policies and procedures.
Rehire consideration requires a 365-day (one-year) waiting period; applicants may have no more than three previous Tyson employments to be considered.

Responsibilities

Assist the supervisor with day-to-day hatchery operations.
Pull hatcher baskets from hatchers to the separator room.
Sweep, clean, and disinfect hatchers and drains.
Move stacks of empty boxes weighing approximately 70 pounds using a dolly.
Move egg buggies using a dolly.
Clean, mop, and buff hatchery floors.
Monitor hatchers and setters as required by management.
Run chick trays, flats, and boxes through the tray washer.
Place flats in farm racks.
Train to operate the separator.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
