About The Position

FAIRPLAINS HATCHERY: 1st Shift Hatchery Operator HY01. The position requires the ability to understand labels, read recipes, follow instructions, and communicate effectively. A minimum of 6 months of work history within the last 12 months is mandatory for application review. The role involves performing other duties as tasked by administration and adhering to all Tyson policies and procedures. Essential functions include working in damp/warm conditions, lifting/pushing over 40 pounds, performing various tasks as requested by management at both hatcheries, ensuring a safe and organized work area, performing machine checks and documenting findings, starting generators, performing basic maintenance on machines, communicating with management and maintenance about issues, and the ability to complete tasks independently, potentially working alone on some shifts.

Requirements

  • 6 months of work history in the last 12 months documented within your application’s work history and/or resume.
  • Ability to understand labels, read recipes, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work in damp/warm conditions.
  • Ability to lift/push 40 plus pounds.
  • Ability to stand duration of shift.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Includes lifting, pulling, pushing, squatting, climbing, bending, reaching, rolling buggies.
  • Must be able to obtain lockout tagout certification, pallet jack and moffett license.
  • Must wear respirator when dispensing formaldehyde (no beard older than 24 hours and if wear mustache must be cropped at corners of mouth).

  • Holiday work will be required sometimes.

Responsibilities

  • Pull chicks, grade chicks, breakouts, washing trays and machines, moving buggies, cleaning, place chickens in the houses, mix vaccine, dispense formaldehyde, run embrex machines, tray, and set eggs.
  • Stand for the duration of the shift (Usually, 10 hours with two unpaid 30-minute breaks).
  • Bending, twisting, and turning body from side to side to see and keep up product in work area.
  • Perform machine checks such as, follow instructions and document findings.
  • Start generators, and complete some maintenance on machines when issues arise.
  • Communicate with management and maintenance when issues arise.
  • Complete task independently some shifts may require you to work alone.
  • Ensure safety and be responsible for keeping work area free of clutter and/or tripping hazard and always organized.
  • Perform other jobs as requested by management at both hatcheries.
