About The Position

Aviagen is hiring Hatchery Associates to join its Hatchery Service Team. The role involves checking and grading chicks to quality standards, preparing chick transport boxes and labels, and manually transferring eggs within the hatchery. Associates help maintain equipment and consumable supplies, uphold chick and egg welfare standards, and follow hygiene, safety, reporting, and biosecurity procedures. The work is physical, repetitive, and performed in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Ability to perform moderate physical work, including pushing and pulling trolleys weighing up to 50 lbs.
Basic math skills.
Ability to perform repetitive work and stand for extended periods.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
Proven reliability in work attendance and willingness to give best effort.
Ability to work with a team.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge and understanding of basic Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word.
Self-motivated, able to perform duties unsupervised, and possess a positive attitude.
Good decision-making skills, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Check and grade chicks to the required quality standard.
Build boxes for chick transport and complete labels to distinguish orders.
Manually transfer eggs to other trolleys and areas of the hatchery.
Ensure equipment is in good working order and sufficient consumable stocks are available.
Maintain chick and egg welfare standards while handling them during treatments.
Follow cleaning and hygiene standards according to company protocols.
Follow safe working practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow accident and near-miss reporting procedures.
Maintain high standards of biosecurity.
