About The Position

Aviagen is hiring Hatchery Associates to work on its Hatchery Service Team. The role involves checking and grading chicks to quality standards, preparing chick transport boxes and labels, manually handling eggs, and supporting hatchery operations while maintaining welfare, cleanliness, safety, and biosecurity standards. Associates should be self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, and capable of performing reliably in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Ability to perform moderate physical work, including pushing and pulling trolleys weighing up to 50 lbs.
Basic math skills.
Ability to complete repetitive work and stand for extended periods.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
Proven reliability in work attendance and willingness to give best effort.
Ability to work with a team.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge and understanding of basic Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word.
Self-motivation and ability to perform duties unsupervised.
Positive attitude, good decision-making skills, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Check and grade chicks according to quality standards.
Build boxes for chick transport and complete labels to distinguish orders.
Manually transfer eggs to other trolleys and other parts of the hatchery.
Ensure equipment is in good working order and sufficient consumable materials are available.
Meet chick and egg welfare standards when handling chicks and eggs during treatments.
Follow company cleaning and hygiene protocols.
Follow safe working practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Follow accident and near-miss reporting procedures.
Maintain high biosecurity standards.
