About The Position

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Work at Home Bilingual Haryanvi-English Phone Interpreter. This is an independent contractor position. As an interpreter, you will receive training that is the best in the industry, with opportunities for advancement. You will work in a certified ASTM and ISO environment and be supported by a Senior Language Specialist and Interpreter and Technology Help Desks. Our interpreters serve clients across numerous industries, including health care, 911, first responders, education, government agencies, and business. The interpreter handles calls on demand, rendering the meaning of conversations between Haryanvi and English speakers, breaking communication barriers in various industries. The role requires processing information quickly and concisely, recognizing sensitive cultural differences, and maintaining professionalism. Interpreting sessions can involve simple or complex, technical or non-technical subjects. This is a remote position requiring a quiet and secure home-office environment.

Requirements

• Fluency in Haryanvi and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
• Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position for the majority of the workday.
• Ability to operate company-provided software and systems.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
• Dedicated personal device for business purposes (Desktop/Laptop/Tablet/Smartphone).
• High speed Internet connection (5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, Ping <= 300 ms, Jitter <= 30 ms).
• Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.

Nice To Haves

• Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages.

Responsibilities

• Handle calls on demand and render the meaning of conversations between Haryanvi and English speakers.
• Break communication barriers in a wide range of industries including Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
• Process information quickly and concisely.
• Recognize sensitive cultural differences.
• Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times.
• Use appropriate terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices.
• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions.
• Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions in compliance with protocol.
• Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
