About The Position
The Harvest Floor Technician is responsible for the slaughter process of pork as well as the splitting of hogs as experience is gained. This role involves working in the slaughter operation of pork, trimming and washing carcasses, and working around and with livestock in a fast-paced team environment. The technician will learn and follow USDA regulations, learn to use and sharpen a knife efficiently, and adhere to strict safety guidelines. Overtime and Saturday work may be required.
Requirements
- Heavy lifting (Capable of at least 50-100 lbs)
- Long periods of walking and standing
Responsibilities
- Work in the slaughter operation of pork.
- Trimming and washing of carcasses.
- Work around and with livestock.
- Work with others in a fast-paced team environment.
- Learn and follow regulations set by the USDA.
- Learn to use and sharpen a knife in an efficient manner.
- Be aware of and follow strict safety guidelines.
- Willing to work overtime and on Saturdays if needed.
