Requirements

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to communicate problems or issues to production.
  • Regularly required to stand/ use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push/pull or move up to 600 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and write.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Food Manufacturing experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior Meat cutting/butchering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Converting live animals into carcasses ready for processing.
  • Performing slaughtering and butchering tasks using cutting tools such as knives, saws, and mechanical knives to break down full carcasses into boneless carcasses or smaller cuts of meat.
  • Utilizing all required PPE and reporting any equipment issues.
  • Prioritizing food quality and maintaining food safety through GMPs.
  • Participating in the knife sharpening and stretching program.
  • Sharpening and maintaining knife functionality to minimize body strain.
  • Maintaining company standards of efficiency in "Head Count" and "Yield" in a fast-paced environment.
  • Learning processes on humane slaughter and food compliance regulations in conjunction with USDA standards.
  • Functioning with minimal assistance and supervision.
  • Following all SQF principles pertinent to the position.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
