This position is responsible for ensuring that any birds that are miscut or missed by the machine are properly killed if the killing machine is not functioning correctly. The role requires the ability to hand kill when the killing machine is down and to keep cadavers under a total of eight (8) birds per shift. The job involves utilizing a knife, standing for the majority of the shift, reaching out of the workstation to grasp birds to make cuts, and visually monitoring birds for slaughter passing at the workstation. The employee will sever veins of birds missed by the machine. This role is located inside the facility and may involve exposure to dust, debris, noise, blood in the kill hall, moving objects, wet floor surfaces, and mechanical and electrical hazards. All required PPE must be used. The applicant must be physically able to perform job tasks, including working in a dusty and bloody environment, and possess good manipulation skills to hold and use a knife to make necessary cuts. A post-offer risk assessment will be conducted, and the team member must pass animal well-being approval before being placed in the position. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Rehire criteria include a minimum waiting period of 180 days and a maximum of three previous employments at Tyson Foods.
