About The Position

This position is responsible for entry-level non-skilled general labor while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This position could work in any area of the Fresh Processing including the DSI, Debone, Deli lines, and Evisceration. The role also involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This includes monitoring equipment during production, making necessary repairs or adjustments, documenting corrections, performing preventive maintenance on weekends, rebuilding equipment, assisting with installation of new equipment, and performing general maintenance throughout the facility. Tasks include greasing, changing oil, cleaning equipment, monitoring computer boards, and troubleshooting mechanical problems using schematics and blueprints. The position requires working closely with other maintenance personnel and handling fragile devices with precise attention. All other duties as requested by the supervisor will also be performed.

Requirements

  • Able to move freely throughout the plant over and around equipment, people, and other obstacles.
  • Able to tolerate climates ranging from very cold to very hot and from very wet to very dry.
  • Able to communicate and get along well with others.
  • Able to climb ladders.
  • Able to reach, lift, and work overhead.
  • Able to walk, stand or sit for the duration of the shift.
  • Able to complete mandatory online training.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have a minimum waiting period of 180 days for rehire.
  • No more than 3 previous employments at Tyson Foods.
  • Must be willing to work 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Push, pull, carry, and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in damp, cold, or hot environments.
  • Reach above shoulder level.
  • Stand 8-10 hours a day on hard surfaces.
  • Perform repetitive motion.
  • Climb up and down stairs.
  • Wear PPE, frocks, gloves, ear protection, hair net, and beard guard.
  • Use a knife and/or scissors to bone out or trim pieces of product.
  • Use powered equipment such as saws or skinner machines.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all equipment and company assets.
  • Monitor equipment during production and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Document any corrections required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on weekends.
  • Rebuild equipment as required.
  • Assist with installation of new equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance throughout the entire facility as required.
  • Manually grease, change oil, and clean various plant equipment.
  • Monitor equipment and computer boards.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems using detailed schematics and blueprints.
  • Work other shifts when necessary.
  • Understand and agree to follow Safety Rules (e.g., Lockout/Tagout).
  • Comply with OSHA standards.
  • Work Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Work closely with other maintenance personnel.
  • Work with other devices that are very fragile and require precise attention.
  • Perform all other duties as requested by the supervisor.
