About The Position

Skydio is seeking a highly hands-on Hardware Technician to support rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and lab improvement across multiple engineering spaces. This role involves operating and maintaining SLA and FDM printers, supporting mechanical assembly, and ensuring labs are organized and functional. The position requires significant time spent on your feet, moving between labs, fabricating parts, assembling hardware, and supporting engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with 3D printing, including machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and material handling
Experience using shop tools such as saws, drill presses, sanders, and other fabrication equipment
Experience with mechanical assembly, ideally including multirotors, RC aircraft, or similar systems
Experience setting up or improving lab or shop environments (e.g., mounting equipment, building workstations, organizing shared spaces)
Comfortable working on your feet and moving between multiple tasks and locations throughout the day
Ability to proactively identify and execute the highest priority work in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with general lab operations, including consumables management and maintenance routines

Nice To Haves

Experience with machining tools such as manual or CNC mills
Basic experience with soldering, wiring, or cable harnessing
Experience with CAD tools such as Fusion

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain 3D printers, including troubleshooting and material handling
Support rapid prototyping by fabricating and finishing parts using shop tools and basic fabrication equipment
Perform mechanical assembly, including drone hardware and similar systems
Install, modify, and maintain lab and shop infrastructure such as benches, shelving, and test equipment
Maintain organization and functionality across shared lab spaces
Move between multiple labs and tasks throughout the day to support engineering teams
Independently identify and execute the highest priority tasks in a fast-paced lab environment
