About The Position

We are seeking a Hardware Technician in our Broomfield, CO, location. This role will perform and help coordinate the hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and production support of complex ultra-high vacuum (UHV) hardware for trapped-ion quantum computers. All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ GED minimum
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience assembling, testing, maintaining, or troubleshooting complex hardware in an R&D, or manufacturing environment.
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • Experience assembling and troubleshooting vacuum systems, including vacuum hardware, pumps, gauges, fittings, seals, and helium leak detection.
  • Experience performing precision assembly, component cleaning, inspection, and contamination-controlled work in a cleanroom or similarly controlled environment.
  • Experience with cryogenic systems, precision mechanical assemblies, optics, photonics, aerospace hardware, semiconductor equipment, or complex scientific instrumentation.
  • Experience using mechanical and electrical test equipment and interpreting test data to identify hardware or process issues.
  • Experience developing or improving work instructions, build travelers, fixtures, tooling, test procedures, work cells, preventive-maintenance plans, or training materials.
  • A safety- and quality-first mindset, strong attention to detail, disciplined organization, and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, integrate, test, and validate ultra-high-vacuum, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Serve as a hands-on operator for assigned builds by coordinating daily work, escalating constraints, and helping the team meet quality and schedule commitments.
  • Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot production and test equipment such as vacuum systems, helium leak detectors, ovens, cryogenic systems, and electrical test equipment.
  • Perform precision cleaning, handling, assembly, inspection, and testing in cleanroom and laboratory environments while following contamination-control, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and process issues using structured problem-solving methods; document findings, support root-cause investigations, and help implement and verify corrective actions.
  • Partner with engineers and physicists to develop, improve, and standardize assembly processes, work instructions, build travelers, fixtures, tooling, test methods, and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain accurate production records, test data, equipment logs, material status, nonconformance documentation, and as-built configuration records in the team’s approved systems.
  • Maintain clean, organized, audit-ready work areas and actively contribute to 5S, equipment readiness, safety, quality, yield, cycle-time, and other continuous-improvement efforts.
