About The Position

The Hardware Technician - Level I is responsible for configuring, testing, and preparing telematics devices for deployment across customer equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring devices are reliable, properly integrated, and ready for immediate use in the field. Telematics devices enable real-time monitoring of construction equipment through GPS and ECM data, transmitting operational insights via cellular networks. This position supports the full device lifecycle from initial configuration through updates and issue resolution, ensuring consistent performance and a high-quality customer experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a hardware, logistics, or related technical support role, or equivalent technical training/certification.
  • Proficiency with foundational computer skills, including Excel, CSV file handling,web-based business software, and texting/SMS communication.
  • Foundational mechanical skills are preferred, with the ability and willingness to develop hands-on technical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing excellent service.
  • A team-oriented attitude, contributing positively to team dynamics and collaboration.
  • Reliability and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in device preparation and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective customer interaction via phone, in person, and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, update, test, and troubleshoot devices using standardized processes to ensure proper functionality with customer equipment.
  • Perform firmware and software updates on new and deployed devices to maintain performance and system compatibility.
  • Prepare, provision, and package devices for shipment to customers, ensuring they are fully operational ready for use upon arrival.
  • Follow documented processes to support consistency, quality, and continuous improvement in hardware operations.
  • Collaborate with technical and customer support teams to resolve device-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Process RMAs in accordance with standard processes and procedures, including tracking and recording key performance metrics (e.g., RMA tracking data).
