About The Position

Base is America’s next-generation power company, focused on deploying distributed batteries to create a resilient and abundant energy system. The company recently launched Base Core, a 39.2 kWh home battery, and is now initiating its next major hardware program focused on large-scale infrastructure hardware. This role will own that program from the first prototype through volume production, leveraging expertise in power electronics, thermal design, high-volume manufacturing, and supply chain management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience carrying a physical product from prototype to volume production (thousands of units or more).
  • Technical ability to understand schematics, mechanical drawings, and engineering trade-offs.
  • Direct experience managing manufacturing and supply chain elements, including cost, tooling, quality, and capacity.
  • Working knowledge of hardware testing campaigns for performance and reliability.
  • Strong bias for hands-on, in-person collaboration, preferring factory floor work over status meetings.
  • Ability to build structure where none exists.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering background.
  • Experience in high-volume consumer electronics, automotive, EV, or aerospace new product introduction.
  • Experience with power electronics, battery systems, or grid hardware.
  • Experience with data center, server, or networking hardware, including racks, power distribution, or cooling.
  • Experience standing up a new production line or a new supplier from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the program schedule, critical path, and accountability for delivery dates.
  • Drive the hardware program from prototype through engineering, validation, industrialization, and volume production.
  • Own build plans, part readiness, and design maturity.
  • Coordinate sourcing of components, qualify vendors, and plan tooling capacity.
  • Hold internal and external teams accountable for program cost targets, quality requirements, and delivery schedules using quantitative metrics.
  • Own and defend BOM cost.
  • Lead line bring-up, throughput, and yield, ensuring a smooth handoff to field installation teams.
  • Communicate program status, including bad news, to leadership early with defined recovery options.
