About The Position

Be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. You'll contribute to the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration. As a hardware engineer in the board and system design team, you will work on Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI) hardware systems projects to craft the solutions for current and future data center deployments. You will work with product teams to ensure that their goals are met with your systems. You will work with the Application-Specific Integrated Circuit/Field-Programmable Gate Array (ASIC/FPGA), Software, and Verification teams to ensure proper verification of features in your systems. You will work with the manufacturing teams to ensure that your designs are manufactured and ready for volume production. You will work with the field teams to support systems that are deployed in the data center. Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by cutting-edge custom hardware designed and made in-house. As a hardware engineer, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers, affecting millions of Google users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a hardware design technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in Peripheral Component Interconnect Expres (PCIe), Double Data Rate (DDR), Ethernet, USB, Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), etc.

Responsibilities

  • Gather system requirements, define architecture, execute hardware design, and product validation.
  • Lead the bring up, validation, New Product Introduction (NPI), deployment, and sustaining of hardware solutions.
  • Work cross-functionally with Hardware, Software, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, Manufacturing, and external vendors.
  • Drive system development from concept through production.
  • Lead debug and root cause analysis of deployed systems.
