About The Position

The Hardware Quality Assurance Engineer II will be part of JPL’s Procurement Quality Assurance Group (1123), supporting the Training, Tools, Technology, and Tracking (4T) sub-team. The role primarily facilitates Hardware Record Certification Reviews (HRCRs) and Support Equipment Certification Reviews (SECRs), coordinating review preparation, establishing project review structures, facilitating meetings, documenting discussions, and tracking action items through mission launch. The engineer partners with HQA Leads, Mission Assurance Management, Cognizant Engineers, project personnel, project leadership, and industry partners to conduct delivery reviews consistently, communicate expectations, provide training and coordination, and help close actions while maintaining project schedules. The role also performs Hardware Quality Assurance Level II activities as appropriate. These include verifying that applicable QA requirements, inspection points, workmanship standards, electrostatic discharge controls, and source inspection requirements are implemented wherever hardware is built; investigating Additional Nonconforming Products or Corrective Actions; and contributing to QA processes spanning procurement, integration, and delivery. The engineer supports process improvement using quality tools such as Lean Six Sigma, Control Charts, and Pareto Charts, applies standard QA principles, and collaborates with senior QA engineers to communicate and clarify requirements.
