Hewlett Packard Enterprise•San Jose, CA
•$187,000 - $377,500•Hybrid

About The Position

HPE Networking is seeking a Hardware Product Line Manager to own the technical specifications, performance, commercial strategy, and supply of its SASE and Security hardware portfolio, including EdgeConnect, Session Smart Router (SSR), and SD-Branch product lines. This hands-on role connects demand and supply, cost and pricing, and hardware systems. The manager keeps the appliance business supplied, buildable, and profitable by translating demand, COGS, and lead-time information into forecasting and pricing decisions for leadership. The role works across product engineering, field sales, operations, demand planning, and supply chain, and brings pricing recommendations, demand plans, and other decisions forward for VP and executive approval. The role contributes to multi-year portfolio planning and hardware convergence, partners with engineering on platform definition, and drives platform lifecycle decisions and New Product Integration deliverables. It owns recurring pricing actions and per-SKU margin analysis, end-to-end hardware demand forecasting, supply chain liaison responsibilities, and ongoing COGS and component lifecycle management. The position is hybrid, requiring an average of two days per week at an HPE office. HPE describes benefits supporting physical, financial, and emotional wellbeing, as well as career development programs and an inclusive workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in hardware product management, hardware operations, supply chain, or a closely related discipline; networking, security, or embedded systems experience is ideal.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including direct experience building COGS and margin models and driving pricing decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with demand forecasting, supply chain coordination, backlog and lead-time management, and component lifecycle management, including BOMs and last-time buys.
  • Ability to work across finance, supply chain, engineering, and go-to-market teams and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Expertise in embedded Linux systems and x86 and ARM architectures.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree, including a Master of Science and/or MBA.
  • Experience with networking appliance portfolios in SD-WAN, routing, or firewalls.
  • Familiarity with demand planning tools, backlog/DPOR processes, and supply chain systems, and experience bridging product line management and supply chain.
  • Working knowledge of pricing operations, price list systems, and quarterly price-action cadences.
  • Familiarity with ODM/JDM cost structures.
  • Familiarity with Trust Platform Module (TPM) and its use cases to establish trust.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to multi-year SASE and Security hardware portfolio planning and hardware convergence, including derivative platform strategy across EdgeConnect, SSR, SD-Branch, and SRX and associated ODM/JDM cost assumptions.
  • Partner with hardware engineering on platform definitions across x86 and Arm systems, including processor, memory, storage, mechanical, and port configuration trade-offs and cost implications.
  • Drive platform lifecycle decisions, including End of Sale timing and replacement planning.
  • Lead New Product Integration phase-gate deliverables as needed, such as business case inputs, SKU creation, and pricing commitments, in partnership with program and engineering teams.
  • Understand requirements and implementation for secure supply chains from manufacturing through end-customer acceptance.
  • Drive recurring portfolio pricing actions, translating COGS movements into per-model list-price recommendations and guiding them through approval by PLM leadership, finance, and the executive Product Approval Committee.
  • Own per-SKU margin analysis, including allocated COGS uplifts for transfer, cost of sales, logistics, and warranty, while accounting for discount behavior; identify platforms needing targeted or broad price changes.
  • Model interactions between hardware and software pricing to protect blended unit margin while limiting market disruption.
  • Coordinate price-change execution with pricing operations, including SKU-level submissions, sales back-office price list updates, and partner and regional communications and timing.
  • Maintain competitive pricing intelligence and use it to defend product model price positioning on cost-sensitive deals.
  • Support deal-level discount approvals with timely hardware SKU and blended deal margin analysis.
  • Own end-to-end hardware demand forecasting, reconciling pipeline, install base, and backlog data into unit forecasts by platform and SKU.
  • Serve as the dedicated supply chain liaison for the portfolio and provide the field with a reliable point of contact for lead times, availability, and delivery commitments.
  • Improve visibility between the field, sales operations, demand planning of record, and supply chain so demand is represented in planning tools; manually surface large or out-of-cycle opportunities not yet reflected in the pipeline.
  • Provide transparent backlog and projected availability information and confidence-rated delivery guidance to account teams.
  • Track order status, shipments, and lead times for strategic deals, and proactively resolve delivery issues.
  • Build and maintain forecasting and reporting tools to improve demand and lead-time visibility and reduce reliance on manual follow-up.
  • Partner with demand planning and the components team on monthly planning and last-time-buy demand plans, accounting for their capital impact.
  • Own ongoing COGS reviews with supply chain and finance, track cost changes across ODM/JDM suppliers, and flag developing margin impacts.
  • Manage component lifecycle risks, such as memory transitions, processor and BIOS end-of-life exposure, and obsolete power components, and drive mitigation through last-time buys, requalification, or platform derivation.
  • Review and approve BOM changes with manufacturing operations and the PCM-PG team.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits supporting physical, financial, and emotional wellbeing for employees and their loved ones.
  • Career development programs supporting professional goals and growth.
  • Inclusive workplace and flexibility to manage work and personal needs.
