About The Position

Gritt Robotics is seeking a Hardware Procurement Specialist to join their hardware team. This role is responsible for the physical layer that AI runs on, integrating perception, industrial sensors, compute, and robotic actuators to create autonomous field systems. The position involves sourcing, vendor management, and hardware execution, requiring comfort with sourcing various components, managing lead times, and maintaining an accurate database of inventory. The specialist will work closely with the mechanical team to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of necessary parts.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or operations, ideally in a hardware, robotics, mechanical, aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing environment. Strong internship experience counts.
  • Ability to read a mechanical drawing, understand a bill of materials, talk to a machine shop, and source components like LiDAR or industrial cameras, or eagerness to learn.
  • Promptness, organization, and ability to follow through on tasks.
  • Ability to create POs and ensure timely payments.
  • Natural inclination to keep clean vendor records, PO trackers, and BOMs.
  • Comfort working with mechanical engineers, suppliers, and leadership, and translating between them.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and develop execution plans.
  • Mission-driven attitude with a desire to work on impactful projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience procuring custom machined or fabricated parts (CNC, sheet metal, weldments) alongside off-the-shelf hardware.
  • Familiarity sourcing sensors and compute (LiDAR, industrial cameras, NVIDIA Jetson / x86 compute modules, GPUs, automotive-grade cabling and connectors) and checking for environmental ratings.
  • Hands-on experience using or helping stand up an ERP/MRP or PLM system at a hardware startup.
  • Background working alongside mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers on integrated hardware systems.
  • Exposure to construction equipment, heavy machinery, off-highway vehicles, or field service in real-world environments.
  • APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP), ISM CPSM, or Lean / Six Sigma coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Source off-the-shelf parts, including brackets, mounts, fasteners, structural and machined parts, LiDAR units, cameras, compute modules, cabling, and connectors.
  • De-risk long-lead items by anticipating needs, placing orders early, and qualifying alternates.
  • Ensure engineers have the necessary components when they are needed to avoid project delays.
  • Build and maintain relationships with mechanical suppliers, sensor and compute distributors, and local machine shops.
  • Negotiate price, lead time, and quality with vendors.
  • Control costs by keeping spend visible per system, challenging inflated quotes, and supporting cost-aware sourcing decisions.
  • Own purchase orders end-to-end, track shipments, and maintain an accurate inventory picture.
  • Maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs) per system configuration, working from mechanical drawings and CAD data.
  • Kit together parts as needed.
  • Capture and feed back sourcing and quality issues to improve vendor selection and purchasing processes.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Meaningful equity in Gritt Robotics
  • Benefits package designed for people who are building something they care about for the long haul.
