About The Position

The department's mission is to coordinate complex hardware projects within a multidisciplinary team of engineers (hardware, FPGA, signal, test), while ensuring compliance with aeronautical standards (DO-254, ARP4754A, DO-160), cost control, adherence to deadlines, and performance targets. The Hardware Project Manager ensures reliability, safety, and compliance with airworthiness requirements throughout the development cycle.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in hardware project management within a constrained environment (aerospace, defense, rail, or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of electronic architectures, FPGAs, PCBs, and hardware development cycles.
  • Proficiency in aerospace standards (DO-254, ARP4754A, DO-160) or a strong interest in certified environments.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and lead complex technical projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English.

Responsibilities

  • Identify the key skills required for project success and allocate tasks within the team.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and ensure the daily coordination of activities.
  • Plan, monitor, and adjust task execution to guarantee that commitments are met.
  • Support the team manager in steering and optimizing the performance of the hardware team.
  • Manage technical resources: internal staff, subcontractors, and external service providers as needed for the projects.
  • Organize and assign technical team members to meet contractual requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Interact with project managers (Project Design Authority, System Engineering Manager, HW Work Package Manager) to align resources, skills, and priorities.
  • Ensure the execution of design activities and coordinate the new product development process.
  • Ensure technical feasibility and the achievement of series cost targets.
  • Manage the completion of engineering tasks while adhering to cost, schedule, performance, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to all phases of the hardware lifecycle: requirements analysis, architecture, design, development, integration, and verification.
  • Write technical specifications and documentation necessary to ensure compliance with customer, marketing, manufacturing, and hardware requirements.
  • Collaborate with PCB manufacturers and assemblers (EMS) to ensure manufacturability (DFM).
  • Produce workload estimates and schedules for new projects and proposals.
  • Oversee the design of electronic boards incorporating FPGAs, in compliance with aeronautical standards (including DO-254).
  • Participate in defining hardware architectures, particularly to meet redundancy and safety requirements.
  • Work with the quality team to ensure the implementation of robust processes that comply with airworthiness requirements.
  • Ensure the consistency, traceability, and quality of technical deliverables.
